Ernest A. Eggers, M.D.
Considered to be a foremost expert in the study of joint reconstruction.Dr. Eggers is one of this area's first physicians to perform total joint replacement surgery. He is considered a foremost expert in the study of joint reconstruction, and his surgical prowess has made his counsel much sought by manufacturers of joint prostheses from all over the U.S.A. His studies have taken him to Germany, Belgium, France and other countries. He has conducted seminars and research on the subject of arthritic joint replacement and continues to strive for innovative ways to reduce arthritic joint pain. He is a member of many local and state societies, including the Society for Arthritic Joint Surgery, The Association of Knee and Hip Society, The Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and he is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Eggers has been involved in minimal invasive hip surgery for over 25 years and is now teaching limited-incision surgery on both hips and knees. Throughout his practice he has performed over 10,000 hip and knee replacements. Metal/metal hip implants have been used in his practice for approximately nine years, and ceramic/ceramic for approximately four years.
Dr. Eggers is a native of Indiana and served in the United States Navy. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Louisville.
