John T. Friedland M.D.
Specializes in disorders of the spine.Dr. Friedland is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the spine. His career in the armed forces included Chief of the Orthopaedic Spine Service at Brooke Army Medical Center including teaching responsibilities in addition to treating traumatic and degenerative conditions of the spine. He served overseas as Chief of the OIF/OEF Orthopaedic Trauma Service and Chief of the Spine and Neurologic Surgery Section at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. He served most recently as the Chief of Surgery at Camp Bucca, Iraq, caring for U.S. and coalition forces as well as injured enemy combatants, earning a Bronze Star Medal for his efforts. Dr Friedland has done numerous international presentations, published research papers and served on professional committees throughout his military career.
Dr. Friedland is a native of Texas earning his undergraduate degree from the US Military Academy at West Point, New York. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before attending the Uniformed Services University for his medical degree. He subsequently completed his internship and residency at the Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas. He completed his spine fellowship training at the Panorama Orthopedic Clinic in Golden, Colorado. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and is a member of national, state and local medical societies.
