Physical Therapy

Louisville Orthopaedic Clinic (LOC) offers the services of Sports Rehabilitation, our onsite physical therapy department.  Whether you’re recovering from surgery, sidelined from an acute injury, or dealing with a chronic condition, your physician might suggest physical therapy.  Our physicDr Kuiper and Patientians work closely the Sports Rehab staff to provide you with the best in orthopaedic care.

Our staff at Sports Rehab consists of a group of five experienced health care professionals.  Our three physical therapists have over 50 years combined experience.

The director of Sports Rehab is Tim Braun.  Tim graduated from the University of Louisville in 1993.  He received the Professional Excellence Award and served as the President of the School of Allied Health in Student Government.  Tim’s entire career has focused on orthopaedics and sports medicine.  In addition, he has taken multiple continuing education courses, including spine and sports related injuries.  He feels it is important to educate the patient about the source, treatment, and prevention of their condition.  Tim is a member and certified clinical instructor of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Tom Mooney, a native of New Albany, Indiana, attended Indiana University and graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy in 1984.  He began working for Louisville Orthopaedic in 1985 and continued working in the physical therapy department for eleven years.  After a brief stint working in another private practice, Tom returned to LOC in 2004.  Sports have always been an interest to Tom and he continues to be involved by working with the athletes at Providence High School in Clarksville.  Tom has been married to Sharon for twenty-five years and has three children, Geoffrey, Kristen, and Kevin.  In his spare time, Tom enjoys cycling, coaching youth sports and walking his dog, Ted.

Erin Eggers Fidler joined the Sports Rehab staff in 2005.  She received her undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of Delaware.  Prior to joining LOC, Erin worked in a sports rehab facility in New York City, where she concentrated in running injuries.  She has continued her education with courses concentrating in spine disorders, sports medicine, and numerous other orthopaedic conditions.

PhysicalTherapy2.jpgDiane Blythe is a licensed physical therapy assistant (PTA) specializing in orthopaedics.  She graduated with honors from the University of Kentucky, where she also lettered in swimming.  Diane also specializes in soft tissue disorders and is certified in ASTYM (augmented soft tissue mobilization).  She has been married for 24 years to Sam and has two children, Casey and Bo.  In her spare time, she enjoys tennis, golf and painting.

We also utilize the services of an athletic trainer who is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA).  Mike Mehring has over seven years of experience treating sports-related injuries.  Mike graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and then received his master’s degree from the University of Louisville.   He has experience working with high school, college, and professional athletes.  Athletic trainers ensure the quickest recovery for our student athletes, and aid in a safe return to sports and recreational activities.

Our physical therapy staff prides themselves in not just treating our patient's current condition, but also in working to educate them on their diagnosis, as well as lifestyle changes they can make to prevent recurrent injuries. Our therapists work closely with our physicians and have an understanding of their surgical techniques. This close work relationship prevents delays in the patient's care and allows your physician to be informed of their progress.

The experience and professionalism of our staff allows us to give our patients the highest level of care, and we are proud to serve you.
